despise=de（down）+ spis（look）+ e动词轻视，蔑视，例：Other boys despised him for a coward.其他的男孩蔑视他，说他是胆小鬼。
关于看还有其他词：
gaze动词凝视，例：She is a little bit short-sighted, so she has the habit of gazing at people.她有一点近视，所以她有一个凝视人的习惯。
peep动词偷窥，把ee想成一对眼睛，两边的p想成两个人，想象这样一个画面，一个人呢发现电视里播放着一些不堪入目的画面，而且还围着很的人，这显然是男生宿舍，这个人呢说我不看，我不看，但是他在后面拨开两个人，露出一对眼睛，这就叫偷窥。如Peeping Tom不守信约的人，在今天还表示偷窥狂的意思。
glance动、名快速扫视（有意识）
glimpse动、名无意识的一瞥，例：（拿破仑写给他妻子的话）I was shot dead by a glimpse of your eyes.你回眸不经意的一瞥，我就被你深深地刺穿了胸膛。

dictionary说文解字，字典（-ary集合名词尾缀，如vocabulary词汇，anniversary周年纪念日）
contradiction=contra（相对，对立）+ dict（speak）+ ion名词矛盾
contrary相反的，如contrary views，名词相反，如on the contrary正相反，例：-You must be tired. -On the contrary, I feel very good.你一定很累。正相反，我觉得非常棒。
contrast动词对比，例：It%26rsquo;s very interesting to contrast the two writers.对比两位作家是很有意思的。名词对比，短语in contrast with，by contrast，例：The coastal area has very mild winter, but by contrast the central plains become extremely cold.靠近海岸的地区有很温和的冬天，相比而方，靠近中央的平原就变得非常寒冷。
predict=pre（之前）+ dict（speak）动词预言，例：The scientists predict that there will be an eclipse of the moon next month.科学家预言下个月会有一次月蚀。eclipse=e（月亮）+ clip（剪）+ se蚀，如lunar eclipse日蚀
dictate
1口述，听写，如dictate a letter to a typist给一个打字员口述一封信
2命令，例：You can%26rsquo;t dictate to people how their money should be spent.你不能命令人们如何去花自己的钱。
其名词有dictation听写，dictator独裁者
indicate=in + dic + ate动词暗示，指示，例：A high fever indicates serious illness.高烧暗示着严重的疾病。如an arrow indicating the direction of advance.指示前进方向的箭头，其名词为indication暗示
verdict=ver（very）+ dict（speak）非常的说法，名词裁决，例：The jury will give their verdict tomorrow. 陪审团会在明天给出他们最后的裁决。
