"Casino Royale", the 21st film in the 007 series, opened in theatres on November 15. Little known British actor, Daniel Craig starts a new Bond era (时代) in the film.
Based on the first novel written by British writer Ian Fleming, "Casino Royale" is about Bond's early days. Having just received "00" status (see fact box), Bond sets out on his first mission(任务) ' stopping La Chiffre, a banker who gambles (赌博) away his clients'(客户) money to support his illegal business.
With an amazing car and a beautiful woman by his side, Bond does what he does best %26mdash; he saves the day with style, humour and more than a little violence.
Craig is the sixth actor to play James Bond. The 38-year-old is best known as Angelina Jolie's love interest in "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" (2001).
When it was announced in October 2005 that Craig would be the next James Bond, many fans were disappointed. They gave several reasons, from his height (he is shorter than previous Bond actors), to his blond (金发的) hair. While, Ian Fleming's Bond was dark, Craig has been called "James Blond" by some critics.
However, Craig's performance has earned him great reviews. He lives up to the standard (标准) set by Sean Connery. Although Craig's Bond is not as handsome and not as stylish as those played by previous actors, he brings a more human feel to the role.
"Casino Royale" will open in China on January 30, 2007.
